Socks can only have y/d food and there is only one company that makes it. It took forever to get him to eat it.

Did the vet suggest mixing it with his old food until he was used to it?Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs https://www.blogger.com/profile/13233710830920626326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469168253969225473.post-478472965215780822014-01-27T15:43:58.128-05:002014-01-27T15:43:58.128-05:00Ooooh, that cat tree is pawsome! Single-source protein and grain-free seem to be the way to go, at least when reading forums. Purrs to Zulu and to you.

Also look at slippery elm for soothing the intestines, it's been used for years, is well-known for use with IBD in cats.

I've had this recipe for years:

Slippery Elm Syrup Recipe
(A good “food herb” tonic to help with vomiting,
diarrhea, and other intestinal upsets in cats)

Put 1/2 cup of COLD water and 1 teaspoon of slippery elm powder (you may have to open the capsules if you don't have it as loose powder) into a small saucepan. Whip it up with a small whisk or fork. Bring it to a simmer over a LOW flame, stirring constantly. Do this for about 1 to 2 minutes, continuing to stir. Cool it off and refrigerate.

This will keep for about a week.

The best thing to do is to give to kitty about 1 teaspoon of the syrup about 15-30 minutes or so before meals. Alternatively, you can sprinkle some of the slippery elm powder on the food, but in acute situations (vomiting, nasty diarrhea) giving the syrup BEFORE meals can be much more effective.
Fuzzy Taleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09505853082591216696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3469168253969225473.post-18104609606591094172014-01-26T12:19:16.681-05:002014-01-26T12:19:16.681-05:00What a pawsome tree ! Just a question - is it that Hills or Science Diet stuff? Because vets get a profit for selling it, and there are options. I would look at a second opinion elsewhere if he is really adamant.
